Shot in a real “precipice” in the heart of New York, at 78 meters high, “to make the scenes more truthful and faithful to the concept”, in the words of the producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura, “40 carats”Tells of Manhattan and a man on the ledge of a hotel who threatens to jump. This is Nick Cassidy (Sam Worthington), an ex-policeman who went to jail for a crime he didn’t commit. At the first opportunity he has escaped and now appears desperate but determined.
While disenchanted and disheartened NYPD negotiator, Lydia Anderson (Elizabeth Banks, already in “Spiderman” 1,2,3) deals with him, the agents isolate the area and people flock to see how it ends. The gesture of a madman? Not at all if you have a brother (Jamie Bell of “Billy Elliot”, “The Adventures of TinTin”) that is preparing to carry out the greatest diamond theft of all time. What Lydia doesn’t know is that she is part of a big plan, a plan that will give both of them a second chance. The cast also includes the formidable Ed Harris (“The Truman Show”, “A Beautiful Mind”).
