A life on the run: Sean Penn in a family drama between father and daughter

Wednesday November 16th premieres on Sky Cinema Two (and is also present on the platform of NOW), starting from 21:15the drama film A life on the rundirected by Sean Penn in 2021 and taken from the biographical book Flim-Flam Man: The True Soty of My Father’s Counterfeit Life, published in 2005 by the writer and journalist Jennifer Vogel and dedicated to her father John, one of the best known forgers in America. The film was presented in competition at the 74th edition of Cannes Film Festival.

John Vogel (Sean Penn) is a man who is a liar and embroiled in shady circles that have forced him into debt and to suffer violence and retaliation. To save his skin John, together with his family, decides to escape from Minnesota.

A few years later the man leaves his wife Patty (Katheryn Winnick), now addicted to alcohol, and their 2 sons, Nick (Hopper Penn) and Jennifer (Dylan Penn). Later she the latter decides to go and live with her father but during that coexistence the true criminal nature of man also begins to come to light.

This discovery leads Jennifer first to seek solace in drugs and then react and commit to pursuing her dream of becoming a journalist. But in the course of her new life, the woman will once again reconnect with her parent…

A family drama full of feeling, albeit without excesses, which tells the complicated emotional dynamics between a father and his daughter.
