A new fan poster imagine Emily Blunt as Lara Croft in the sequel to tomb Raider. It was recently reported that MGM lost the movie rights to the popular video game franchise after the studio didn’t officially give the green light to the sequel. They had until May, but their window of opportunity has passed. The sequel was initially in development, with Misha Green assigned to direct and Alicia Vikander ready to reprise the role from the 2018 film.

However, the actress has exited the project and will no longer act in any related movies tomb Raider. The franchise will now restart for the third time, with the first adaptation in 2001 with Angelina Jolie. Jolie also reprized the role in the sequel, The Cradle of Lifein 2003. No director or star is currently linked to the new reboot, as GK Films is looking for a studio to distribute the brand new adaptation of tomb Raider.

Digital artist @diamonddead on Instagram shared her poster with fans of her, reimagining the actress in the role of her, after reading articles online suggesting she might be a good fit.

Throughout her career, Blunt has been chosen by fans in many roles. For example, she was asked to play Sue Storm / The Invisible Woman in the next film Fantastic Four in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Her husband John Krasinski played Reed Richards in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Lara Croft is another possibility and the @diamonddead poster transforms a moment created by fans into a “near reality”. Emily Blunt has already proven herself to be a capable action / adventure star, having starred in Edge of Tomorrow, Sicario And At Quiet Place I and II.

She recently starred in Jungle Cruise with Dwayne Johnson, a Tomb Raider action adventure film; a good example of how good she can be as an archaeologist if she were to potentially star in the latest reboot.
