Milan’s goal for the winter transfer window is to bring the center back. Eric Bailly and Abdou Diallo were targeted, as reported by Fabrizio Romano.
Milan has long been looking for a new center-back to replace seasoned Simon Kjær. The Dane suffered an injury eliminating him from the game by the end of the season. Italian coach Stefano Pioli is demanding that this position be strengthened in the winter, as otherwise he will not be able to compete for the national championship.
Many candidates have already been mentioned, and the most frequently mentioned are Sven Botman from Lille and Bremer from Torino. However, more clubs remain in the fight for these players, so Milan cannot be sure to bring any of them off.
A new option has recently appeared on the market. Milan are optimistic about Eric Bailly, who cannot count on playing regularly for Manchester United. The 27-year-old has only made three appearances in the team’s first squad in a Premier League match.
The representative of the Ivory Coast went to the “Red Devils” in July 2016 for the amount of approximately EUR 38 million. He was considered a promising defender at the time, and his beginning in England was impressive. It looked worse and worse over time, and Bailly faced many health problems. After Raphaël Varane’s arrival at Old Trafford, the 27-year-old has no chance of playing in the starting line-up.
Bailly’s contract expires on June 30, 2024. Milan hopes to be on loan by the end of this season.
In addition to him, “Rossoneri” are also targeting Abdou Diallo, who represents the colors of Paris Saint-Germain on a daily basis. The 25-year-old Senegalese man is a substitute this season and he would be eager to move to a club where he will get more opportunities to play.
