Six people died in an accident on the A4 Turin-Trieste motorway, in the section between San Donà di Piave and Portogruaro, where a van violently buffered a articulated lorry. The victims are five passengers, four boys and a girl with the down syndromeand their driver, the former mayor of Riccione Massimo Pironiwho after the end of his mandate (in 2014) and retirement had intensified his volunteer activity in the association Cen.tr.o.21, a well-known subject in the area that deals with assistance to young people with disabilities.
