Like many other famous women, Charlize Theron is the target of constant criticism and remarks about her physique. The 48-year-old actress is constantly accused of having had a facelift. Tired of these comments, she responds in an interview with the American magazine pace and denounces the double standard that reigns in our society.
“I’m getting old, that’s all”
Seeing herself grow old is far from being a problem for the actress. On the contrary, it positively evokes this passage of life. “My face is changing and I love seeing my face change and age,” she tells the magazine.
Annoyed at being accused of having touched her face because it changes over the years, she takes the opportunity to respond to her detractors: “But people think I had a facelift. They say, ‘What what did she do to her face?’ I’m like, ‘I’m getting old, that’s all!’ It doesn’t mean I had a bad plastic surgery, it’s just the process,” she explains.
Charlize Théron denounces the double standard that persists
During the interview, the actress goes on to denounce the difference in treatment between men and women who are aging. “I’ve always had a problem with men aging like fine wine and women like withered flowers.”
A double standard that the star does not accept: “I despise this concept and I want to fight against it, but I also think that women want to age in a way that suits them. I think we have to be a little more empathetic about how we all go through our life journey.”
