“I crossed the line, but I didn’t cheat.” Adam Levine43, replied like this after the model and influencer Sumner Stroh23, had explained via Tik Tok that she had an affair with the Maroon 5 frontman, showing a series of messages that he would have sent her.
Levine has been married since 2014 to the supermodel Behati Prinsloo and are expecting their third child together. Sumner said her social media confession came after some friends — with whom she recklessly shared screenshots of Levine’s messages — tried to sell them to the tabloid press. In the video on Tik Tok, Stroh shows her messages that the singer would have sent her: “It’s unreal how fucking sexy you are. It’s like you drive me crazy. You are 50 times sexier in person”we read in one of the conversations.
The two would not have heard from each other again for several months, claims the model, when Levine would have reappeared by sending her the following message, which also ended up on social media: «Ok, serious question. I’m having another baby and if it’s a boy I really want to name him Sumner. Are you well? I’m very serious.” At that point, the 23-year-old would have felt teased, so much so that she shared their messages with her friends.
“I was having a secret affair with a man who was married to a Victoria’s Secret supermodel. I was young and naïve at the time. And I mean, honestly, I felt taken advantage of. I didn’t have the visibility I have now, so I was manipulated very easily,” she continued via TikTok. And again: «I am embarrassed to have had an involvement with a man with this lack of respect».
Levine, after a few hours, wanted to share this note via Instagram: «There is a lot of talk about me right now and I want to clarify. I was rash to talk to anyone other than my wife in any flirting mode. I haven’t been in a relationship, but still I’ve crossed the line at a time in my life that I regret. In some cases it was inappropriate. I have talked about it and taken steps to remedy it with my family. My wife and family are all I care about in the world. Being naïve and stupid enough to risk the only thing I care about was the biggest mistake I could ever make. I will not do that anymore. I take full responsibility for it. We will overcome this moment. And we will overcome it together.”
In these hours, the model and actress also wanted to intervene on the scandal Emily Ratajkowski. “I don’t understand why we keep blaming women for men’s mistakes, especially when it comes to 20-somethings dealing with men in positions of power who are twice their age.”, the 31-year-old said in a video on TikTok, without ever mentioning Levine’s name, even if her message is still very clear. Also because after sharing her version online, Sumner Stroh was overwhelmed by hundreds of haters.
“The power dynamic is so distorted it’s ridiculous”continued Ratajkowski, noting that “If you’re the one having an affair, you’re the one who’s obligated to be faithful.” She is also in the process of separating from husband Sebastian Bear-McClard. The two are parents of a child and both preferred to keep the reasons for the separation private, even if several rumors suggest that there was a betrayal (on his part) in the middle.
The idea of blaming “the other woman”, continues the model, it was designed to “divide women”. I think there’s a huge problem in our culture, she added again, “let’s just say, ‘Oh, men are monsters, they’re terrible, they’re awful.’ We don’t hold them accountable and then blame the other women. We are asking women to change their behavior instead of just saying that men must change their behavior. It’s sexism. It’s classic misogyny.”
