Adam Nawałka is already in Poland. When will he meet the president of the Polish Football Association?

After Paulo Sousa resigned from running the Polish national team, Adam Nawałka is the number one candidate to take over the team. It is known when Cezary Kulesza will meet him to discuss key issues. The meeting is to take place this Friday, January 14th. The information is to come from circles close to the football headquarters.

Kulesza had one meeting when Fabio Cannavaro arrived in Warsaw. The candidacy of the former multiple Italian international no longer seems to be up to date. Nawałka, who from the beginning was indicated by the media as his successor, Paulo Sousa, has a much better chance.

The decision to hire a new manager may be made on January 19, when the board of the Polish Football Association will meet again. Adam Nawałka is a definite favorite not only among experts, but also players who have good memories of the cooperation with the coach, even despite the disappointing end of the World Cup in Russia in 2018. Let us remind you that the 63-year-old coach has been leading the team since 2013, and for his greatest success is reaching the quarter-finals of Euro 2016 with his team.

The new coach’s task will be to lead the national team in the play-off matches for the World Cup in Qatar. Until then, he will not have a single friendly match to test the players and possible line-ups.

– At this point, taking into account that we have 2-3 training sessions before the first game, first of all it has to be a person who knows the national team. I think a Pole would be the person who would reach us faster. Whenever there is a foreign coach, it takes some time to understand the language, not what he speaks, but body language, football language. This is my personal opinion, but the president will choose and we will know his decision in time – said Robert Lewandowski in an interview with Przegląd Sportowy.

The opinion of the captain of the Polish national team is certainly not without significance for Cezary Kulesza, and it is up to him to decide whether to hire a new manager.
