His life, far from being easy, constitutes a true source of inspiration and will soon be told on Netflix in the form of a mini-series.

Developed for eight years at Latin World Entertainment before being entrusted to the platform of streaming at N red, the soberly titled fiction Griselda stars Colombian-American actress Sofia Vergara (Modern Family) who also executive produces alongside Luis Balaguer.

Griselda: a series about the Colombian drug trafficker

The synopsis of this program, which has not yet been revealed in the trailer and whose release date is still unknown, reads as follows:

“Griselda” is inspired by the life of Griselda Blanco, the ambitious and skilled Colombian businesswoman behind one of the most profitable cartels in history. Brutal savagery and a certain charm have allowed this devoted mother to expertly carve her path between business and family, to the point of being nicknamed “the godmother”.

The direction of all episodes has been entrusted to Andrés Baiz, who will also serve as executive producer.

This project is one of writer/executive producer Eric Newman’s latest under his overall deal with Netflix. Ingrid Escajeda serves as showrunner, writer and executive producer. Doug Miro and Carlo Bernard also executive produce.

When will “Griselda” be released on Netflix?

At this time, Netflix has not officially announced the release date of Griselda. However, it should arrive by the end of this year 2023.

Note that the life of Griselda Blanco has already been the subject of an adaptation in 2018 in the form of a biographical drama carried by Catherine Zeta-Jones and entitled The Queen of the Cartels.
