Alessandro Michele takes leave of Gucci: his last act in Castel del Monte

His latest great work has enchanted the world, bringing the Castel del Monte to the center of the international fashion catwalks. The stylist Alessandro Michele leaves the creative direction of the Gucci maison, which he had led since January 2015 and which, in some way, he helped to revolutionize.

An exit from the scene confirmed by the person concerned also on social media, through a long message published on his Instagram profile. At the basis of the decision – it is explained in the post – a discrepancy in perspectives with the company, which convinced the designer to part with the Gucci house after more than 20 years.

The collection that was presented at the foot of Frederick’s manor on 16 May was created by him. A planetarium show, like the images projected on the castle during the fashion show. The universe imprinted on its walls, through the video mapping technique, soul of that “cosmogony” sought by the creative director, and which gave his name to his collection.

Plays of lights, sounds and lasers accompanied the over 150 models who crossed the octagonal courtyard wearing the maison’s clothes on the catwalk. A world-class show, which attracted Italian and international stars to the home of Frederick II of Swabia, such as Dakota Johnson, Lana Del Rey, Alessandro Borghi and the Maneskins.

An evening dedicated to fashion and entertainment which, even if for a few hours, projected Castel del Monte into another dimension, far from the provincialism that often dominates it. Alessandro Michele’s gift to the city of Andria, which can never thank him enough for this.
