After victory in the defamation trial filed against his ex-wife Amber Heard, Johnny Depp has opened a profile on Tik Tok (the social network where he had won well before the ruling) gaining over four million followers in just a few hours. His first post, also published on Instagram, is a video with images of his fans who support him during the process, accompanied by a letter of thanks: «We’ve all been there together, we’ve seen it all together. We walked the same path together. We did the right thing together. All because you cared. And now we will move forward together».

Words that Amber Heard did not like at all. So much so, a spokesperson for hers told the magazine Entertainment Tonight: «While Johnny Depp says “forward”, women’s rights go backwards. The verdict tells women who are victims of domestic violence that they need to be afraid to stand up and speak up». Amber had publicly expressed all of her «disappointment» already in the aftermath of the sentence: «I am heartbroken by the fact that the mountain of evidence was not sufficient to counter the disproportionate power of my ex-husband». And again: «I am even more disappointed by what this verdict means for other women. It’s a setback. Turn back the clock to a time when a woman who speaks out risks being publicly humiliated. It pushes away the idea that violence against women should be taken seriously.”
The war between Heard and Depp also continues outside the courthouse. The process in which both protagonists have told the world the horrors of a marriage based on violence and degradation ended with the defeat of Amber, ordered to compensate her ex-husband with 10.4 million dollars (he had asked for 50). But the actress (who according to her lawyer is absolutely unable to pay such an amount), is not there. And she is ready to appeal. The trial has just concluded but perhaps the six weeks of bloody hearings were just the beginning.
