The Ryzen 6000 series chips for laptops will feature Zen 3+ cores, a slight improvement resulting from the transition to the 6nm TSMC process. The most important change, however, will be the addition of a completely new integrated graphics chip, based on the RDNA 2 architecture. According to the information so far, these chips will be equipped with a maximum of 12 CU blocks. As the premiere of new APUs draws closer, more and more information about their performance is leaking onto the network. According to them, we will get a much stronger iGPU, which will outperform such cards as GeForce GTX 1050 Ti and Radeon RX 460, as well as approach the newer GeForce GTX 1650 Max-Q.

According to unofficial information, the upcoming AMD RDNA 2 integrated graphics chips in the Rembrandt APU will offer performance above such cards as NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti and AMD Radeon RX 460.

There are unofficial iGPU RDNA 2 performance results in the AMD Rembrandt APU on the network, which come from the 3DMark Time Spy test. According to them, the new iGPU is to achieve a result of about 2700 points, which is more than twice the result compared to the iGPU Vega 8 in the Cezanne APU, regardless of whether it is a low-voltage AMD Ryzen 7 5800U (~ 1100 points) or a full-voltage AMD Ryzen 7,5,800H (~ 1,200 points). The obtained result is also higher than the laptop version of the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti graphics card (the TGP of the system is 64 W, the average result from the graphics test is 2379 points) and the AMD Radeon RX 460 card (~ 1900 points). The new integrated RDNA 2 graphics chip is to be located exactly halfway between the GeForce GTX 1050 Ti and GeForce GTX 1650 Max-Q Design with TGP 40 W (~ 3200 points).

It is therefore a very high increase in efficiency, especially in relation to the current Vega 8, which will eventually be abandoned in the main APU family after many years. We do not know exactly what the laptop was tested, but according to reports, the equipment was equipped with LPDDR5 RAM memory. The informants also report that the energy consumption of the iGPU RDNA 2 system in this test was only 50% of that of the mentioned NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti graphics card. It is therefore a low-voltage “U” unit with high energy efficiency. For thin and light laptops weighing just over a kilogram, this can mean a significant performance boost, allowing you to play in Full HD resolution. AMD Rembrandt processors will be presented during the company’s conference at CES 2022, on January 4 at 4 p.m. Polish time.
