AMD Radeon RX 6400 and Radeon RX 6500 XT with 4GB of GDDR6 memory – new information on low-end and entry-level graphics cards

AMD Radeon RX 6400 and Radeon RX 6500 XT with 4GB of GDDR6 memory - new information on low-end and entry-level graphics cardsOver the past year, AMD released three RDNA 2-based graphics chips. First, we got the flagship GPU core called NAVI 21, which powered the Radeon RX 6800, Radeon RX 6800 XT and Radeon RX 6900 XT cards. This year, in turn, we received several more graphics cards, this time based on NAVI 22 and NAVI 23 chips. We are talking about the Radeon RX 6700 XT, Radeon RX 6600 XT and Radeon RX 6600 cards. Meanwhile, more and more information about NAVI 24 systems to represent the low-end and entry-level segments. This is the last group of RDNA 2 graphics chipsets that are yet to be released. Considering that more and more information about them is appearing on the Internet, we can assume that AMD is slowly preparing for the premiere.

According to the latest information, both the AMD Radeon RX 6500 XT and the Radeon RX 6400 will be equipped with 4 GB of VRAM GDDR6 memory.

We got to know the possible specification of the AMD NAVI 31 graphics chip with MCM build. The new Radeons can have up to 32 GB of VRAM

According to Twitter user KOMACHI_ENSAKA, AMD is preparing at least two graphics cards based on the NAVI 24 core. One is the Radeon RX 6500 XT and the other is the Radeon RX 6400. It looks like the first one will be in the low-end segment, while the second for entry-level. After all, both of the discussed graphics cards are to be equipped with 4 GB of VRAM of GDDR6 type. Considering which segments the NAVI 24 chip is aimed at, the presence of 4 GB of memory in it is undoubtedly a plus.

The full NAVI 24 core offers 1024 stream processors, which is half of what NAVI 23 has. A chip with this specification should go to the Radeon RX 6500 XT, while its trimmed version to the Radeon RX 6400. The TBP factor of cards based on the NAVI 24 chip should not exceed 120 W, and the clock speed of the graphics core is supposed to break the 2800 MHz barrier. The specific release date is still unknown, but we expect AMD to reveal the details in early 2022 when the company’s conference is held at CES 2022 in Las Vegas. The first Intel cards will debut soon after, including proposals for the low-end and entry-level segments, so this release date of NAVI 24 seems to be the right choice.
