In a new interview with theHollywood Reporter, Christian Bale told an anecdote from the dii set Amsterdamthe new film by David O. Russell (The Positive Side and American Hustle) which will be in Italian cinemas on October 27th.
The actor has in fact revealed that he sang in a co scenen Taylor Swiftone of the greatest pop singers in the world:
It was a nice surprise, I didn’t tell anyone until done. I went to my daughter and told her: “Do you know who I sang with today? Taylor Swift“. She said: “Wait, what? But why?“.
Bale then added:
The scene was a lot of fun actually because me and [John David Washington] we had practiced a lot. The director had let us rehearse it all day, but then it happened that I forgot the words. Then I looked into JD’s eyes, he looked back at her and then he forgot them too. […] The intonation left something to be desired, but we said: “The feeling is there!”.
At that point the director made a proposal:
All of a sudden David says, “How about if Christian and JD shut up and let Taylor do it?“. It was as if we had muffled an angel’s voice all day with our horrible cacophonous voices. It really makes an impression when you have someone with a beautiful voice like him singing next to you.
In the very rich cast we find Christian Bale, Margot Robbie, John David Washington, Rami Malek, Zoe Saldana, Mike Myers, Timothy Olyphant, Michael Shannon, Chris Rock, Anya Taylor-Joy, Andrea Riseborough, Matthias Schoenaerts, Alessandro Nivola, Taylor Swift and Robert DeNiro.
The story tells of an unlikely agreement between a doctor and a lawyer. The project is based on an original idea of the director and screenwriter.
Amsterdam will be available in Italian cinemas from 27 October.
