Antoni Piechniczek believes that the Polish national team coach should be the manager of the Polish national team. He even demands a radical declaration from the Polish Football Association.
At the end of last year, Paulo Sousa ceased to be the coach of the white and reds. Piechniczek is critical of the Portuguese’s term of office.
– He had some more interesting moments in his work, but most – looking at Euro 2020 and the missed chance to play the first play-off game at home – were rather uninteresting. And this form of parting – just a classic pupil of Western ideology: “money first” – assessed Piechniczek in “Super Express”.
The former selector has long been a zealous defender of the native training thought. In the past, as one of the leaders of the Polish Football Association, he was in conflict with the then head coach of Leo Beenhakker.
Today he proposes a radical solution. In his opinion, a foreign coach cannot become the new staff coach.
– The authorities of our football should send a clear message to the world: we have nothing against the work of foreigners in clubs, but in the next 20 years only a Pole can be the coach of the Polish team! I think that any supporter who feels a patriot – and probably each one of them does – would accept such a declaration with a feeling of relief – assessed Piechniczek.
The 79-year-old believes that Adam Nawałka should be the new manager. PZPN should announce its decision next week.
