AppleTV+ announces the arrival of the docuseries on Boris Becker.
Directed by Alex Gibney and produced by John Battsek the docuseries, still untitled, will consist of two parts.
Boris Becker he became a tennis phenomenon after winning the Wimbledon championships at just 17 years old. In his career he has won 49 titles, including six Grand Slams and an Olympic gold medal. His personal life has often been in the spotlight and sometimes tumultuous.
In April 2022 Becker was sentenced to two and a half years in prison for hiding assets and loans in order to avoid paying debts.
Boris Becker: the docuseries on AppleTV+
The series features intimate interviews with the German champion, including an exclusive conversation held the week of his sentencing. Among the various contributions, interviews with family members and other tennis stars such as John McEnroe, Bjorn Borg, Novak Djokovic, Mats Wilander and Michael Stitch.
The series is a co-production between Battsek’s Ventureland and Gibney’s Jigsaw Productions of Lorton Entertainment, whose projects also include Diego Maradona Of Asif Kapadia, nominated for a BAFTA Award, and the recent documentary by Matt Smith, Rooney, about the great English footballer Wayne Rooney.
