Are you a Verizon customer? It will pay $100 million to affected users after lawsuit

Verizon will pay $100 million to its customers after receiving a lawsuit last year. In this sense, eligible (affected) consumers will be solely responsible for claiming their money. The fact is that in November 2023, a group of Verizon Wireless users sued the company. The consumer’s attorney stated that the mobile service provider deceived its customers.

The idea used is to illegally add additional administrative fees to their subscribers’ monthly invoices. All this is done without their consent and in order to extract extra cash from them.

Additionally, the plaintiffs allege that Verizon never disclosed rates to customers before they subscribed to its service.

It turns out that Verizon charges them a flat monthly fee that is higher than what they advertise and promise.

Against this backdrop, the company denied wrongdoing and accepted a settlement to pay $100 million to rectify the allegations. Likewise, part of this money can pay for the services of the attorney responsible for the case.

Who will receive this payment?

Verizon customers between January 1, 2016 and November 8, 2023 may be eligible. To do this, they must have a postpaid wireless or data plan. Furthermore, for this purpose they shall be charged an administration fee and/or a telecommunications administration and recovery fee during the said period.

It’s worth clarifying that postpaid wireless plans are plans in which the holder pays for service at the end of the monthly billing cycle.

However, Verizon’s payments will vary based on how long the applicant has subscribed to its service and the number of claims. Therefore, you can expect to earn between $15.00 and $100.00 per customer.

To do this, they must receive an email containing the notification ID and confirmation code. With this confirmation code, you will be able to access the online portal to submit your claim.

Meanwhile, the deadline to file a claim is April 15, according to the settlement website.
