Netflix has unveiled a gallery of photos promoting a new adaptation of the novel “Rebecca” by the English writer Daphne du Maurier. Armie Hammer and Lily James will star.
“Rebeka” has had several film adaptations, but the most famous is definitely the one directed by Alfred Hitchcock. The 1940 film starring Laurence Olivier as Maxim, Judith Anderson as Mrs. Danvers and Joan Fontaine as the second Mrs. de Winter won 11 Oscar nominations. Ultimately, the production won two golden statuettes – for the best film and for the best black and white photos.
Now Netflix has decided to re-adapt the novel by Daphne du Maurier. Armie Hammer, Lily James and Kristin Scott Thomas will be starring the screen. The director of the film is Ben Wheatley, the creator of such productions as Tourists and High-Rise.

The story tells of a young, newly married woman who, upon arriving at her husband’s impressive family estate on the bleak English coast, struggles with the memories of her beloved’s deceased first wife, the mysterious Rebecca, whose legacy still haunts the house.
World premiere of the new version Rebecca will take place on October 21 on the Netflix streaming platform.
