Athlete Deon Lendore is dead. He died in a car accident

The Olympic Committee of Trinidad and Tobago informed about the athlete’s death in the United States. US media added that he died in a car accident in Texas.

Lendore has appeared in the Olympics three times. After London (2012), he also took part in the races in Rio de Janeiro (2016) and last year in Tokyo.

Most recently, he worked as a volunteer trainer at Texas A&M University.

The Trinidad and Tobago Olympic Committee stressed that Lendore was “an inspiration and a motivation”

“Deon waved the flag of Trinidad and Tobago with pride, honor, patriotism and steadfast will throughout his career, while helping and inspiring many,” the statement added.

In addition to the bronze medal at the 2012 Olympics and the 2015 Beijing World Championships silver – both in the 4×400 m relay – he was also successful indoors. He won, among others individual bronze medals in the 2016 and 2018 indoor world championships
