Attacks on Israel: Gigi Hadid condemns “terrorism against innocents” after Hamas attacks

Gigi Hadid, a star model whose father is of Palestinian descent, condemns Hamas’ terrorist attacks against Israel in an Instagram post, saying her “hopes and dreams” for the Palestinians in no way include “the evil of a Jewish person.”

American catwalk star Gigi Hadid, whose father, Mohamed Hadid, is of Palestinian origin, took a public stand condemning attacks by the terrorist organization Hamas against Israel.

“Terrorizing innocent people is not in line with the ‘Free Palestine’ movement and does no good,” the model said in a long message posted this Tuesday on her Instagram account. She said her “hopes and dreams for the Palestinians, in no way included harming a Jewish person.”

“My thoughts are with all those affected by this unjustifiable tragedy and the innocent lives lost to this conflict – too many of whom are children. I have deep empathy and sorrow for the Palestinian struggle and life under occupation, it is a responsibility I shoulder daily. I also feel a responsibility to make it clear to my Jewish friends, as I have done before: while I have hopes and dreams for Palestinians, none of them include harming a person. Jewish. Terrorizing innocent people is not in line with and does no good for the Free Palestine movement.”

The impossible cure

She continues: “The idea that this is the case has fueled a painful, decades-long cycle of retaliation (of which no innocent civilian, Palestinian or Israeli, deserves to be a victim) and helps perpetuate the idea false that being pro-Palestinian = anti-Semitic. If you are suffering as I share my condolences today with my loved ones, Palestinian and Jewish, I send you my love and strength – whoever you are and wherever you are.”

And the model concludes: “There are many complex, personal and valid feelings, but every human being deserves basic rights, care and safety; regardless of their nationality, religion, ethnicity or place of birth. I know that my words will not be enough and will never heal the deep wounds of so many, but I always pray for the safety of innocent lives.”

Gigi Hadid’s reaction follows deadly attacks launched by the Hamas terrorist organization in Israel over the weekend. Attacks which were followed by Israel’s official declaration of war against Hamas.

The toll this Wednesday morning rose to 1,200 dead and more than 3,007 injured on the Israeli side, according to the Ministry of Health.

Hamas, which has controlled the Gaza Strip since 2007, is also threatening to execute dozens of hostages. Among them are young people captured during a music festival, where members of the terrorist organization suddenly burst in on Saturday, killing 250 people, according to an NGO.

On the Palestinian side, 900 people died and more than 4,500 were injured, according to local authorities.
