Sci-fi horror hits theaters this month Nope (August 11) by Academy Award winner Jordan Peele (Escape – Get Out, Us), followed by body horror Crimes of the future (August 24) directed by David Cronenberg (Rabid, Brood, Scanners, La mosca). Also on the same day, horror debuts in theaters Men by Alex Garland (Ex machina and Annihilation).
Following are the profiles of the films accompanied by Italian posters and trailers.

AUGUST 11: Nope

The sci-fi horror about the alien invasion Nope arrives in Italian cinemas on 11 August distributed by Universal Pictures. Produced, written and directed by Jordan Peele (Escape – Get Out, Noi), Nope is portrayed by Daniel Kaluuya (Escape – Get Out).

The protagonists of the story are three residents of a Californian town who become witnesses of an inexplicable and terrifying discovery.
Plot: Oj and Em (Daniel Kaluuya and Keke Palmer) are two brothers who, along with their father Otis Haywood Sr. (Keith David), run the family ranch. When the parent dies, the two inherit the property but, while the former tries to keep his father’s business, the latter dreams of success in Hollywood.
However, the Haywood brothers soon run into financial problems and, as if that weren’t enough, some horses vanish into thin air, while the others begin to be violent and nervous.
Convinced that they are dealing with extraterrestrials, Em convinces OJ to install cameras on the ranch in the hope of understanding what is happening, only to notice a strange cloud in the sky …

In the cast of Nope there are also Keke Palmer (Scream), Steven Yeun (The Walking Dead), Michael Wincott (The Crow), Barbie Ferreira and Brandon Perea.

AUGUST 24: Crimes of the Future

Written and directed by David Cronenberg (Rabid, Brood, Scanners, La moscow), the body horror Crimes of the Future will hit theaters on August 24 with Lucky Red.
Crimes of the Future takes its title from his previous 1970 film without being the remake and stars Viggo Mortensen (A History of Violence, The Assassin’s Promise), Léa Seydoux (Specter, No time to die) and Kristen Stewart (Twilight, Underwater) .
In Crimes of the FutureDavid Cronenberg continues to explore the terror of man in the face of the mutation of the flesh, involving, in addition to the physical aspect, also the psychological one.

Official synopsis: in an unspecified future the disastrous effects of pollution and climate change have changed the body of human beings, now capable of carrying out continuous mutations. Former surgeon Caprice (Léa Seydoux) harnesses the ability of her partner Saul Tenser (Viggo Mortensen) to develop new organs to create artistic performances of surgical removal, in which the couple publicly show the internal metamorphosis of man. These avant-garde shows attract the attention of Timlin (Kristen Stewart), investigator of the National Organ Registry, but also of a suspected subversive group whose aim is to take humanity to the next evolutionary stage.

The cast also includes Scott Speedman (Underworld), Don McKellar, Welket Bungué, Tanaya Beatty, Lihi Kornowski, Yorgos Karamichos and Yorgos Pirpassopoulos.

AUGUST 24: Men

On 24 August he also made his theatrical debut Menthe violent and distressing horror written and directed by Alex Garland, the director of Ex machina And Annihilationas well as screenwriter of 28 days later And Sunshine.
Men is played by British actor Rory Kinnear (Quantum of Solace, Skyfall, Specter and No Time to Die) and Jessie Buckley (Beast), Irish actress nominated for an Oscar for The Dark Daughter (2021) by Maggie Gyllenhaal.

Plot: following a personal tragedy, Harper (Jessie Buckley) retires to the beautiful English countryside to find inner peace. However, someone or something in the surrounding woods will begin to haunt her, plunging her into an interminable nightmare, populated by her saddest memories and darkest fears.

Paapa Essiedu, Gayle Rankin, Sarah Twomey, Zak Rothera-Oxley and Sonoya Mizuno complete the cast.
