All participants in Melbourne’s first Grand Slam tennis tournament in 2022 will have to be vaccinated against Covid-19, said Craig Tiley, director of the event. So there is growing pressure on the nine-time winner of the tournament, the leader of the world ranking Serb Novak Djokovic, who has so far refused to answer the question of whether he accepted the injection.

There is a lot of speculation about vaccinations, and to be clear, when the prime minister announced that everyone present should be vaccinated, we have the answer for the players. Tiley said in an interview with Channel Nine.

All players understand that. Our sponsors will need to be vaccinated, everyone working at the Australian Open will need to be vaccinated – he stressed.

Tiley also referred to Djokovic’s attitude. He says it’s his private affair. We would like to see Novak here. He he knows he will have to get vaccinated here – added.

The Australian Open will be held from January 17-30 in Melbourne. The state capital of Victoria recently reopened after its sixth consecutive close. The lockdown lasted in this city for a total of 260 days.
