Babar Azam along with Craig Brathwaite of West Indies and Pat Cummins of Australia have been nominated for the ICC Men’s Player of the Month after their stellar individual performances in March.
Sophie Ecclestone also nominated for Female Player Award
In the women’s section, England’s bowler Sophie Ecclestone, Australia’s run-machine Rachel Haynes and South Africa’s Laura Wolvaardt are in the race for the prize, who performed brilliantly in the recently concluded World Cup. Winners will be announced next week. Babar impressed with his scintillating performance in the recent series against Australia.
He scored 390 runs in Tests this month, including a record-breaking 196 in the second Test. With this innings, Pakistan was successful in getting the match drawn. He strengthened the team’s batting by scoring 57 and 114 runs in two ODIs against Australia in March. With his century in the second ODI, Pakistan successfully chased down the target of 349 runs. He has been nominated for this award for the second time and has won this title in April 2021.
Craig Brathwaite is in excellent form
West Indies captain and opener Brathwaite scored 341 runs at an average of 85.25 during the recently concluded successful WTC (World Test Championship) series against England. During this, he played an important role in drawing the match by scoring 160 runs in 489 balls in response to a tough score in England’s first innings in the second Test. Cummins proved his mettle in adverse conditions during the WTC Test series in Pakistan.
After taking 5 for 56 in the first innings in the third Test on a pitch easy to bat on, he took three wickets for 23 runs in the second innings and ensured the team’s victory. He has been nominated for this award for the first time for taking 12 wickets at an average of 22.50 in the three-match series. In the women’s category, Ecclestone was nominated for the second time after her outstanding bowling performance. He played an important role in helping his team reach the finals of the World Cup.

This month he took 20 wickets at an average of 12.85. Haynes played a big role in keeping Australia invincible during this World Cup. He scored 433 runs with the help of five half-centuries, with an average of 54.12.
