Bayern Munich midfielder Joshua Kimmich tested positive for the coronavirus, the club announced on Wednesday evening.
The last few weeks have not been particularly successful for Joshua Kimmich. It has been rumored for some time that he was one of the five players of the German champion who refused to vaccinate against COVID-19. This is one of the reasons why he recently underwent a long quarantine – more than three weeks – after coming into contact with an infected person.
When it seemed that everything was going well and the 26-year-old decided to take the vaccination, which was announced by the coach of the German national team, Hansi Flick, it turned out that he was sick.
The case was first reported by the media from beyond our western border, and later confirmed by the club. A defensive midfielder, like Éric Maxim Choupo-Moting, tested positive for the coronavirus.
Therefore, he is facing a 14-day quarantine, which means that he will not play in at least the next two matches with Arminia Bielefeld and Borussia Dortmund.
It is very possible that this is not the end of bad news and Kimmich will also be missing during the last round of the Champions League group stage against FC Barcelona. After such a long break, it will be difficult to expect him to be able to withstand an entire match of this rank at full capacity.
There is one gateway, and that is PCR testing. It is possible that both players will now be tested regularly and if they fail more than once, they will be able to resume training.
