The second release of the Urbanball NFT collection is on Friday, June 24 at 11:00 am UTC.
After selling out its first launch on Binance NFT, Urbanball is holding a second launch of Belgian edition street football non-fungible tokens (NFTs). The NFTs will be distributed via random mystery box packs and will feature winners of real-life street football tournaments from Brussels and Antwerp. Ten thousand NFTs will be needed to play the Urbanball play-to-earn (P2E) street football game scheduled for release later this year.
- The character cards feature real-life street football players who have won ‘one-on-one’ Urbanball tournaments in their home countries. These tournaments are hosted by two-time freestyle soccer world champion and social media sports icon Sean Garnier, whose character is also included in the list as the main draw.
- Skill cards have different soccer techniques used to improve characters’ performance in the game.
The game has a variety of player-versus-player and player-versus-environment competition modes, with rewards redeemable for real experiences. This is led by Garnier, who has 19 million social media followers and over 2 billion video views. Garnier has teamed up with fan engagement platform Ex Sports to give athletes greater exposure and potential new revenue from NFTs.
Outside of the game, NFTs are utility digital collectibles that can help athletes grow and develop their careers through a unique revenue model that sees the majority of every primary sale to them. Rare NFT holders also receive exclusive rewards such as meeting and greeting athletes.
On the first drop, NFT holder Garnier Flame Edition was rewarded with an all-expenses paid trip with Garnier to Qatar to meet superstar Neymar da Silva Santos Júnior and watch the Redbull Neymar Jr.
NFT drops are planned monthly until an initial game offering (IGO) in December, and each release features new street football athletes from different countries. The finals will take place at prime Dubai venues such as the Dubai Mall and Burj Khalifa, in partnership with Emaar Entertainment.
The Binance NFT-Ex Sports collaboration was developed because they both recognize the potential to nurture up-and-coming talent while supporting the growth of niche sports. Ex Sports aggregates sports IPs and promotes an ecosystem with real and beneficial utility for underprivileged athletes.
Urbanball is a comprehensive street football ecosystem that includes a P2E game, NFT collectibles, one-on-one tournaments, micro-events, e-commerce and talent management. More than 10 athletes have signed with the brand, including former and current world soccer champions Panna and Freestyle, with over 30 million social media followers combined.
