Silva missed three games after suffering an injury during the first group match, scoring in a 3–1 win against Estrella Rosa de Belgrado on 19 September. Stones only participated in the Community Shield and his competitive side lost against Arsenal.

The ‘Citizens’ took on Leipzig after enjoying consecutive dream goals, one in the Copa de la Liga against Newcastle and the other in the Premiership against Wolverhampton.

Guardiola commented, “Losing against Newcastle duels, losing also against Wolverhampton, the Premier League is very difficult. But we have to concentrate on everything in Leipzig, since then in London we faced Arsenal (dominoes in the league) Is.”
