While performing at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia, Beyoncé once again cited Lizzo’s name as she listed influential black female artists in her song Break My Soul (The Queens Remix).
Additionally, she made her love for the About Damn Time singer clear by shouting, “Lizzo. I love you, Lizzo! »
This month, former Lizzo dancers Arianna Davis, Crystal Williams and Noelle Rodriguez filed a lawsuit against her, accusing her of sexual, religious and racial harassment, discrimination based on disability, weight and blamed him for creating a hostile work environment. In their lawsuit, the dancers also targeted Lizzo’s production company, Big Grrrl Big Touring, Inc. and the head of the dance crew, Shirlene Quigley.
Shortly after, at a concert in Massachusetts, Beyoncé apparently omitted Lizzo’s name and replaced it by repeating Erykah Badu’s; video footage shows her singing “Betty Davis, Solange Knowles, Badu, Badu, Badu, Badu.”
However, after this apparent omission caused much ink to flow on social media and in the press, Beyoncé’s mother, Tina Knowles, downplayed the decision, and Lizzo’s name was reinstated in the subsequent gigs.
Lizzo, real name Melissa Jefferson, posted a statement on Instagram on Aug. 3, saying she was “not the bad guy” her former employees had portrayed.
