Black Friday versus sustainable development. We buy less

European consumers buy less than before the pandemic, promoting a more sustainable lifestyle, the study found. That’s good news for the planet and bad news for companies looking to profit from Black Friday.

According to the latest Intrum study, European Consumer Payment Report 2021, consumers in 24 countries are increasingly interested in reducing their spending as they switch to a more sustainable lifestyle and support the idea of a circular economy with a closed loop of goods.

Nearly half of European parents say their interest in sustainability motivates them to cut back on spending, and 42% say their interest in sustainable development. Generation Z representatives would not feel guilty paying unethical companies later than agreed.
