Internet users have started a heated debate on Korean online communities to find out whether Jungkook respected Californian laws or not!
This Thursday, photos and videos of Jungkook of BTS in Los Angeles circulated online.
These photos showed Jungkook taking a smoke break outside a restaurant in Los Angeles. It was reported that the idol went there to prepare for the MTV Video Music Awards.
Shortly after the videos and photos surfaced, netizens began questioning whether Jungkook had violated California’s smoking laws.
Some Internet users say he did not respect laws prohibiting smoking on sidewalks.
They further claimed that the photo of an ashtray outside the restaurant was old and the restaurant no longer had it, showing the idol throwing his cigarette on the ground.
Netizens posted part of the law which reads: ββIn California, you must be 18 or older to purchase tobacco. Smoking regular cigarettes and e-cigarettes is prohibited in all public buildings (including restaurants, bars, and casinos) and indoor spaces throughout California.
Smoking is also against the law within 2,000 feet of a door or window in public buildings. Most large hotels have designated smoking rooms. If you are a smoker, ask for a smoking room.
If you smoke in a non-smoking room, the hotel will fine you. Most California cities have ordinances that prohibit smoking in public spaces such as sidewalks and beaches, and smoking is prohibited inside and on buildings in some national and state parks.β
Others came to his defense, denying allegations that he smoked in a non-smoking area. Regarding the restaurant’s ashtray, they posted photos from May and August of this year.
