Camila Cabello spoke for the first time about the end of the love affair with Shawn Mendes: last November, they had announced they broke up after more than two years together.
The 24-year-old singer referred to the breakup in an interview on Apple Musicwhile discussing the new single “Bam Bam“, explaining how his priorities and those of the 23-year-old artist have changed over time.
“My priorities and focus have fluctuated and changed throughout my life – said Camila Cabello – In those years we were together, I didn’t even feel, even as I was writing this album and even now, I guess, my focus is on how to be a whole person. My focus is not even on my career. This album was a tool to become a more complete person“.
“(…) And the same thing with these years we have been together. My focus was on how to live a happy life and be in a happy and healthy relationship. I did a lot of therapy. My focus has changed. Even now that I’m promoting, if I’m not having fun what’s the point? I think that as priorities change. I feel it was like that for both of us. Because we both started out so young and are learning how to be healthy adults. Sometimes this means your number one focus isn’t career. And that’s okay“.
Camila Cabello and Shawn Mendes were friends for many years before becoming a couple thanks to their collaboration “Señorita“. They got together the July 3, 2019 and revealed of broke up in November 2021.
“We will continue to be best friends“ they assured in the message with which they made known of the breakup.
