On Tuesday 17 May the curtain rises on 75th edition of the Cannes Film Festival, an unmissable event for international cinema which, as usual, awards the best films made by directors and actors from all over the world. Italy is often among the super favorites for the coveted Palme d’Or and this year is no less: artists and excellences of the Bel Paese compete for the prize and also stand out among the members of the prestigious jury of the Festival.

Be admitted to the competition at Cannes Film Festival it requires a tortuous and by no means obvious path: i 47 films in competition in this year’s edition they are returning from a selection that began with more than two thousand titles. Which makes the participation of the stars and artists of our house a source of great pride, as always.
The Festival directed by Thierry Frémaux it welcomes films that range from quite varied genres, from action movies to drama films. And it is precisely in the latter that it is inscribed Nostalgia, the last film made by the director Mario Martone starring actor Pierfrancesco Favino. Nostalgia is the adaptation of the novel by Ermanno Rea and tells the story of Felice (played by Favino) who, after forty years of absence, returns to the Rione Sanità of Naples, where he was born and where a past is enclosed that violently returns to the surface.
If on the one hand Martone’s film is one of the most popular among those competing, on the other there is another Italian name ready to conquer the Croisette: Valeria Bruni Tedeschi is competing with the film (in French) Les Amandierswhere the actor stars among others Louis Garrelformer partner of the director and now happily married to Laetitia Casta.
But the Italian excellences al Cannes Film Festival 2022 they do not end there. Among the actors stand out Luca Marinelli and Alessandro Borghiwhich we recently enjoyed in the film respectively Diabolik and in the tv series Devils. This time the two histrionics and beloved performers are the protagonists of The eight mountainsfilm based on the homonymous book by Paolo Cognetti and directed by Charlotte Vandermeersch and Felix Van Groeningen.
The film is not in the race but will have a dedicated space Exterior Nightwritten and directed by Marco Bellocchio and set in 1978, when the war between the State and the Red Brigades raged in Italy. In this scenario, Aldo Moro played an essential role, star of the film played by Fabrizio Gifunikidnapped and held prisoner for more than fifty days and, finally, killed by his captors.

As usual, the jury of the Cannes Film Festival welcomes big names in cinema from different countries of the world. This year it is chaired by the French actor Vincent Lindonflanked by the Iranian director Asghar Farhadi, by the American director Jeff Nichols, by the actresses Deepika Padukon (India) and Noomi Rapace (Sweden) and again by the French director Ladj Ly, by the English actress and director Rebecca Hall and by the Norwegian director Joachim Trier.
Representing Italy in the prestigious jury of Cannes 2022instead, it is the gorgeous Jasmine Trinca, actress among the most loved by the public of the Bel Paese (and beyond). For her, this edition of the Festival takes on an even more important value because of hers official debut in the role of director: his first feature film Marcel! will be presented in the section Seances speciales.

The Cannes Film Festival 2022 opens its doors Tuesday 17th Mayand then continue with a rich program of screenings and events until May 28th. Many guests expected on the Croisette, in addition of course to the protagonists of the films in competition, including stars of the caliber of Anthony Hopkins, Anne Hathaway, Kristen Stewart, Marion Cotillard and Tom Cruise.
