On November 21, the American Music Awards were presented for the 49th time in Los Angeles. The host of the program was Cardi B, who, after Queen Latifah, became the second rapper in the history of the gala to be entrusted with this task. The eccentric singer appeared in a surreal creation from Schiaparelli.

Amercian Music Awards are, next to the Grammy, the most important awards in the American music industry. They are awarded every year, and the statuette is awarded on the basis of popularity, i.e. the best sale of records or singles. This year, the Korean band BTS won in the “Artist or Artist of the Year” category, Olivia Rodrigo won the statuette for the new artist, and the video for Lila Nasa X’s song “MONTERO (Call Me By Your Name)” was recognized as the best music video.

The host of the show, Cardi B, the queen of rap, changed outfits seven times during the evening. She appeared in a black plumed velvet dress by Alexandre Vauthier, a Louis Vuitton outfit with pantyhose decorated with sequins fashionable this season; a yellow dress by Jean-Paul Gaultier; a purple, crystal embellished dress by Jean-Louis Sabaji; or the gold-studded Schiaparelli jacket from the fall-winter 2021 collection. The star’s hair was arranged in a nonchalant mullet cut, commonly known as the haircut for a Czech footballer.

Cardi B was most surprised by the surreal creation of Daniel Roseberry, the creative director of Schiaparelli. The singer hid her face under a golden mask, also supplemented with golden massive earrings. The figure of the artist was emphasized by a black dress with a long train and a heart-shaped neckline. Her hands were wrapped in black gloves from which the star’s long nails protruded.

This is not the first time that Cardi has appeared in a creation designed by Daniel Roseberry. During Fashion Week in Paris, she was seen wearing a golden sculpted cap, paired with a tweed jacket with gold embellishments. In France, it also attracted attention with a monochrome green set, the hood of which had frills, like an apron.
