Catwoman, Zoë Kravitz confirms Selina Kyle’s sexuality rumors in The Batman

Very little is missing from the release of the new one The Batman: Thursday March 3, 2022 fans of the DC character will be able to enjoy the new adventure of the Dark Knight, which this time will have the face of Robert Pattinson. The first reactions are enthusiastic, but there is also expectation to see the version of Zoë Kravitz from Catwoman. The actress, in a recent interview, confirmed an aspect of the famous anti-heroin.

Speaking Australian Pedestrian.tvZoë Kravitz has in fact removed all doubts about the sexuality of Selina Kyle. In a scene from Matt Reeves’ film she is heard calling her roommate Anika in a very intimate way, but at the same time there seems to be a definite feeling with Batman himself. Since both are part of the LGBTQ + community, the interviewer then asked the actress if in this version, Catwoman was bisexual or not. The answer: “This is certainly how I played it, they have some kind of romantic relationship“.

Zoë Kravitz agrees that it is an important step for the representation of the character in the cinema, also confirmed by Matt Reeves in an interview with the same source: “There is intimacy with that character and he cares deeply for her, that’s more than a sexual thing, but there was an intention to make the relationship between them intimate.“.

For fans of the DC comicsthe news will not be a surprise: in Catwoman # 39 of 2015, Selina Kyle’s bisexuality became canonical. The character therefore fits into the long line of DC heroes also characterized by their sexuality: Batwoman, Green Lantern and in recent times there has also been the coming out of Robin and the bisexuality of the new version of Superman. A way to also show this aspect of society in comic stories and make readers of various identities and sexual profiles feel represented.

Looking forward to seeing how this look will be rendered by Zoë Kravitz in The Batmanwe refer you to the synopsis of the film to be released in just two days:

The official synopsis reads: Two years of patrolling the streets as Batman (Robert Pattinson), striking fear in the hearts of criminals, dragged Bruce Wayne into the depths of Gotham City’s darkness. Having a few trusted allies – Alfred Pennyworth (Andy Serkis) and Lt. James Gordon (Jeffrey Wright) – amid the city’s corrupt network of officials and high-profile figures, the lone vigilante has established himself as the only embodiment of vengeance among his fellow citizens.

When a killer targets Gotham’s elite with a series of evil tricks, a trail of cryptic clues pushes the world’s greatest detective to investigate the slums, meeting characters like Selina Kyle / aka Catwoman (Zoë Kravitz), Oswald Cobblepot / alias the Penguin (Colin Farrell), Carmine Falcone (John Turturro) and Edward Nashton / aka the Riddler (Paul Dano). As the evidence begins to bring him closer to resolution and the scope of the evildoer’s plans becomes clear, Batman must forge new alliances, expose the culprit and do justice to the abuse of power and corruption that has long plagued Gotham City.
