After politicians, it is the turn of celebrities to take over social networks, notably Instagram and X (former Twitter), to show their support for Morocco, following the terrible earthquake of September 8 in the evening. Actors, singers, models and other stars have posted emotional messages for Morocco since Friday evening, also increasing calls for donations to help local populations.
This is the case of the American actress of Mexican-Lebanese origin Salma Hayek, who has more than 26 million subscribers on Instagram. The one who played Frida in the cinema and many other major roles shared a call for donations with the comment: “The news of the devastating impact of the earthquake in Morocco breaks my heart. The deadly earthquake left thousands of people in urgent need of essentials like shelter, food kits, blankets and cash assistance.» Inviting her subscribers to make a donation, the wife of French billionaire François-Henri Pinault concluded: “My thoughts are with the unwavering spirit of the Moroccan people during this difficult time.»
Moroccan comedian Gad Elmaleh was also not missed. Very attached to his country, to which he very frequently shows his attachment, the native of Casablanca said to himself “upset by the tragedy that struck Morocco last night» and addressed “thoughts and support to all the victims and their families“.

In the same vein, the Franco-Moroccan comedian Jamel Debbouze grabbed his keyboard to express his emotion. “Terrible night, terrible awakening“, wrote the founder of Marrakech du Rire. “All my support and thoughts to the victims, their loved ones and all those affected by the earthquake. Let us all help and make our contribution to help Morocco and pray that lives will be saved in the hours and days to come. Let’s take care of each other, courage and strength“, he continued.
Carla Bruni, former model and singer, sent a message “to Moroccans» wishing them courage. The wife of the former President of the French Republic Nicolas Sarkozy, who regularly resides in Marrakech, also expressed her “thoughts to the many victims and their families“.
Still in France, actress Michèle Laroque, a great lover of Morocco and particularly of Marrakech, where she recently celebrated her birthday, expressed her attachment to this country: “With all my heart with the victims of the earthquake and with all Moroccans.»
Moroccan actor Arie Elmaleh, brother of Gad Elmaleh, described the earthquake as “unnamed tragedy for our beloved Morocco» and addressed his “thoughts for all the victims and their families“.

On Instagram, French singer Patrick Bruel, who recently performed in Marrakech as part of the recording of the television show “La fête de la chanson oriental”, gave free rein to his emotion. “How sad in the face of this tragedy“, he wrote. The former French coach of the Morocco team Hervé Renard gave free rein to his strong emotion. This great lover of Morocco and Moroccan at heart declared: “It is with great sadness that I learned of the misfortune that struck Morocco…»Hervé Renard had «a very big thought for all the Moroccan people» and addressed “his sincere condolences to the families of the victims of this earthquake”, while wishing “a good recovery to all the injured“.
