Charlize Theron donates a million dollars to fight against gender-based violence

The foundation and solidarity of the actress Charlize Theron, ‘Africa Outreach Project’, has joined forces with two other non-profit organizations, ‘Care’ and ‘The Entertainment Industry Foundation’, to raise money that will go entirely destined to the fight against the gender gap in all its aspects, including the violence which it is derived, in the framework of these extraordinary times linked to the crisis of the coronavirus.

More precisely, the movie star has donated one million dollars to strengthen various initiatives that seek to cushion the impact of already existing problems, but have seen clearly accrued as a result of the social and economic context that crosses the planet today, as explained by the artist herself in its press release.

These funds, as well as those that will be adding in the next few days, will be used to cover work such as the assistance in the field of reproductive and sexual or the protection of those women whose physical integrity is threatened. Million provided, $ 500,000 goes directly led to the funding of women’s shelters and other measures designed to ensure their safety.

“For millions of women and children around the world, to be confined with their assailants in the home is especially dangerous. Our goal is very clear: please, help us to show to those women who are victims of domestic violence that they are not alone in these circumstances, that we are with them and for them, that we support them,” reads an excerpt of the note that has released the oscar-winning performer in their social networks.
