It’s no secret that kids can be picky eaters. For some reason, they especially like to avoid vegetables. Parents at home struggling to get their kids to eat vegetables may take comfort in knowing that even Chrissy Teigen and John Legend can’t get their sons to eat vegetables.
Teigen and her Chrissy and Dave dining out cost David Zhang was a guest on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” where she opened up about her children’s eating habits.
their eldest son, moonThe 7-year-old is described by Teigen as “the best eater.” “Luna is amazing, she eats salads and vegetables,” she explained.but ThousandsThe almost 6-year-old was not a fan enough that he would be upset about it. “Miles hasn’t eaten his vegetables yet,” the cookbook author explains.
“Absolutely?” Kimmel asked. “Never,” Tegan assured him. “He accidentally tied a broccoli in his fried rice and was really upset about it,” Teigen added. The admission made Kimmel feel better as he admitted he could barely get his nine-year-old daughter to eat.
Why don’t children like to eat vegetables?
The former model said the fight with veggies is a “struggle” and shared some insight into why kids are the way they are. “I had a Zoom call with the school before and they talked about picky eating and they said it’s the only thing they can really control at that age. So that’s what he used,” she explained.
As for the scientific reason why children love vegetables, BBC Science Focus points out that it may be because of evolution. Our ancestors lived around poisonous plants, and we evolved a gene that made the toxins in them taste bitter to discourage us from eating them. Children may develop a stronger aversion to bitter tastes because they do not yet know which plants are dangerous.
In addition to Luna and Miles, Tegan and Legend share a daughter Esti1, and their youngest child, wren, seven months old. The 38-year-old businesswoman and singer met Teigen’s surrogate mother when she was pregnant with Estee. We’ll have to wait and see if they like veggies like Luna.
