Babylon is a drama film directed by Damien Chazelle, starring Margot Robbie and Brad Pitt, distributed by Eagle Pictures.

It is set in 1920s Los Angeles. It is the Golden Age of Hollywood, a reign of recklessness, exuberance and crazy ambitions but it is also a crucial moment for the film industry, with the transition from silent to sound films. A revolution that will mark the rise of new stars and the ruin of old glories.

At the center are the personal and professional stories of the four main protagonists: Manny Torres (Diego Calva), an aspiring Hispanic-American actor, who at first has to settle for an assistant job on the set, Jack Conrad (Brad Pitt), a famous actor, among the highest paid in Hollywood, known for his unruly private life, between parties, divorces and unclear affairs, worried by the arrival of sound, which threatens to cut short his career.

Then there’s the provocative but insecure Nellie LaRoy (Margot Robbie), destined to become an overnight star. For her, life should be an endless party.

The fourth main protagonist of this story is Sidney Palmer (Jovan Adepo) a young jazz trumpeter who gets the opportunity to start a career in cinema.

Various characters revolve around them, from Elinor St. John (Jean Smart), an outspoken tabloid reporter, to James McKay (Tobey Maguire) a drug-addicted gangster in search of glory, from Fay Zhu (Li Jun Li) , actress and singer often protagonist of glittering Hollywood evenings, to Irving Thalberg (Max Minghella), one of the best known film producers of the 20s and 30s, the only character in the film who really existed.
