The increase in gas market prices has led methane to even reach 4 euros per kg, as already reported in our recent article. The war in Ukraine and international tensions have led to an endless escalation.
This is the case of the CNG distributor in Contrada Macchie in Campobasso which is closed for maintenance and which will most likely not reopen for motorists who will be forced to go to Colledanchise to refuel their cars with methane.
The LPG service, however, remains active. The future of the employees who work in the Contrada Macchie service station is also at risk.
While the price was generally below the euro in the summer of 2021, it has now quadrupled. Many motorists who are decommissioning methane systems from their car. Also striking is the huge difference in price with Termoli where it is still possible to pay for methane at 1.50 euros per kg. For methane, in fact, the variations are so evident also due to the type of contract that distributors sign for the supply of gas. There are distributors who have longer supply agreements, even than duration two years, while others do not go beyond 12 months, or much less.
The only way out would be that of the price ceiling, to be adopted as a minimum at national level but possibly at European level
