Closing of the Cinema in the hillsides festival in style

Magnificent last evening of the “Cinema Festival in the hillsides” in Cadeillan. For this closing evening, nearly 150 people tasted in the open air, in a friendly and festive atmosphere, the excellent paella prepared by Mr. Martinez, while listening to the singing of “Léna Vassiliu Duo”. This sweet summer evening took place in the presence of the honorary president of the festival and mayor of Cadeillan, the director Denys Granier-Deferre (“Roomed Piece”, “Let the big salaries raise their finger”…) and the illustrious Californian Tom Stern, settled for more than 20 years in the village, and who was cinematographer for many Clint Eastwood films, including “Million Dollar Baby”, “Gran Torino”, or “Sully”. The festival organizers announced that 1893 people had attended the 20 evenings of this edition. These figures make this festival one of the biggest open-air cinema events in Occitania. Two prizes were awarded by Culture et Cinéma, the organizing committee to two participating municipalities: the loyalty prize to a participating village since the first edition (Villefranche-d’Astarac) and to a participating village for the first time (Cazac ). At nightfall, the projection of the “Three Musketeers” could begin on a giant screen suspended from the fork of a tractor. A street lamp was even invited during the first minutes, projecting the leaves of neighboring trees on the giant screen. The technical team turned it off very quickly to the applause of the audience. “The Three Musketeers”, with a 5-star cast (Vincent Cassel, Romain Duris, François Civil, Eva Green, Louis Garrel…) delighted the spectators: two hours of swashbuckling, intrigue, espionage, and love stories. The stars were both on the screen, in the sky and in the eyes of the spectators for this last session of 2023.
