Covid in Italy today, incidence and Rt are rising again after several weeks of decline. o detects the weekly monitoring of the control room of the Higher Institute of Health-Ministry of Health. The incidence of cases this week dates back to 510 per 100 thousand (period 4-10 March) compared to 433 per 100 thousand inhabitants recorded in the week 25 February-3 March (according to data from the Ministry of Health). As for the average Rt index calculated on symptomatic cases, in the period 16 February-1 March, it is at 0.83 (range 0.73 – 0.95), an increase compared to the 0.75 of the previous week, but always below the epidemic threshold. The same trend is recorded for the transmissibility index based on cases with hospitalization: the Rt is equal to 0.82 (range 0.79-0.85) on 1 March compared to 0.77 (range 0.75 -0.79) of 22 February. is equal to 0.83%.

The percentage of cases detected through contact tracing activity – reports the report – is slightly increasing: 17% compared to 16% last week. The percentage of cases detected through the appearance of symptoms is increasing (37% compared to 35%), while that of cases diagnosed through screening activities decreases (46% compared to 49%). The current situation characterized by high incidence – underlines the monitoring – does not allow a precise mapping of the contacts of the cases, as evidenced by the low percentage of cases detected through the tracing activity.

The occupation of intensive care beds by Covid-19 patients continues to decline which, on a national level, stood at 5.5% on average (daily survey by the Ministry of Health on 10 March) compared to 6.6% on 3 March. This is what emerges from the weekly monitoring of the control room of the Higher Institute of Health-Ministry of Health.

The occupancy of hospital beds in the medical area also continues to decline which, on a national level, stands at an average of 12.9% (daily survey by the Ministry of Health as of 10 March) compared to 14.7% recorded on 3 March.

Five regions / Pa at moderate risk, low in the others

There are 5 Regions / Autonomous Provinces that this week are classified at moderate risk, of which one with a high probability of progression towards high risk. The remaining Regions / PAs are classified as low risk. This was revealed by the weekly monitoring of the control room of the Higher Institute of Health-Ministry of Health. Last week, however, all the Italian regions and public administrations were at low risk.
