– Reckless politicians and high-ranking officials are threatening to close the border, to close the Kuźnica railway border crossing. If they want to shut down, let them do it – said Alexander Lukashenka on Monday (November 22), quoted by the state agency BiełTA.
– I suggest that they consider communication with Russia, China and Asia in general. They will have to use routes through Donbass. Those people are tough – he added.

“If we go too far, we will not avoid war”
The Belarusian president also spoke about the crisis on the border. – We are not deliberately sending anyone across the border. And we’re not going to. We have to reach the Poles with a message and show them that we are not barbarians, we do not want a confrontation, said Lukashenka, quoted by BiełTA.
He explained that “if we go too far, we will not avoid war.” – We don’t want any escalation. But we will protect these poor people as much as possible. Our policy with regard to this migration crisis is the same as at the beginning, he stressed.
Prime Minister Morawiecki: We are ready to close further crossings
Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki spoke in Tallinn on Sunday (November 21) with the Prime Minister of Estonia, Kaja Kallas. After the meeting, he said that the hybrid war on the eastern border of Poland is another aggressive action by Russia that we are dealing with. He also mentioned the energy crisis he said was caused artificially – and Russia’s growing military involvement in this part of Europe. The Prime Minister recalled the 2014 attack on Ukraine and previous conflicts in Moldova and Turkey. He pointed out that today the number of Russian troops is growing again at the border with Ukraine.
The head of the Polish government added that today the European Union should focus on the issue of security in the East and the energy crisis. Morawiecki said that Poland managed to defend the external borders of the European Union. He also pointed out that the actions of the Belarusian services may lead to an escalation of the crisis. – That is why we, on our side, are also ready to use this escalation ladder, i.e. closing subsequent crossings, closing transit and trade opportunities in order to exert economic pressure on the Lukashenka regime, said Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki.
Last week, the commander-in-chief of the Polish Border Guard, General Tomasz Praga, sent a letter to his Belarusian counterpart, at the request of the head of the Ministry of Interior and Administration, in which it was stated that Poland would close the border crossing in Kuźnica if Belarus did not stabilize the situation on its side of the border by November 21 due to stay of illegal migrants near the border crossing. It was emphasized that in the event of no response to this appeal, Poland – fearing for the safety of railway traffic taking place there and the risk of a related disaster – would suspend rail traffic through the border crossing in Kuźnica.
