While his individual numbers remain impressive, he has shown himself to be frustrated at times during what will end as the club’s worst Premier League campaign in terms of final standings points.

Although the Portuguese has made posts saying that he will remain a United player next season, many speculations are being made about his future as no one knows if he will be in the plans of new manager Erik ten Hag.

In response to a fan post suggesting that Ronaldo should leave the club to increase his chances of winning trophies in the later years of his career, his sister Katia Aveiro appeared to support the idea by liking the post.

The Instagram post from Portuguese fan account @cr7.o_lendario, wrote: ‘It is very sad to see Cristiano Ronaldo in this situation with this Manchester United team. Now we have no place in the Champions League’.

The 37-year-old’s contract runs until 2023, with United having the option to extend it for another year.

Current United manager Ralf Rangnick was recently asked about Ronaldo’s football and said: “This is a question you need to ask Erik ten Hag. He showed that he can still be a vital part of this team, but it is obvious that the team needs more strikers,” he explained.

United have been linked with transfers of Tottenham striker Harry Kane and Benfica striker Darwin Nunez.
