Story Highlights
- IPL 2022 season will start from 26 March
- First match between Chennai and Kolkata
The world’s biggest cricket league IPL 2022 season is to start from today (26 March). The first match will be played between defending champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and last year’s runners-up team Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). This match will be held at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai from 7.30 pm.
Just two days before the start of IPL, Mahendra Singh Dhoni has replaced Ravindra Jadeja as the new captain of the Chennai team. Jadeja will have to face a lot of difficulties in the very first match as captain. Moeen Ali joined the team late due to visa. He will not play the first match. While fast bowler Deepak Chahar is injured. In such a situation, Jadeja will have to find an alternative to both.
Devon may get a chance instead of Moeen
Devon Conway can get a place in the playing XI in place of Moeen. The big reason for this is that Conway is able to play spinners well. In the T20 World Cup, he washed Rashid Khan and Mohammad Nabi fiercely. In such a situation, he can get a chance to handle mystery spinners Varun Chakraborty and Sunil Narine in the middle order.

Shreyas will have to find an alternative to Finch
The difficulties are not less for Shreyas Iyer, the new captain of the Kolkata team. Alex Hales withdrew before the tournament. Aaron Finch was replaced in his place. Due to late joining the team, Finch will also not be able to play the first match. In such a situation, Shreyas will also have to find his alternative. While the team’s all-rounders Andre Russell and Venkatesh Iyer are ready to wreak havoc.
