The confirmation that in Cyberpunk 2077 the multiplayer will arrive has angered many fans, worried that the game could take a bad turn.
After the announcement that Cyberpunk 2077 will have a multiplayer mode, some angry fans started attacking CD Projekt Red on social networks, Twitter in particular. The reasons? For example, many fear a drift of the game in the style of that of GTA V after the launch of GTA Online. But let’s go in order and find out what the two main concerns are.
Many, like the Twitter user Fogbrain, fear that the development of multiplayer will be detrimental to the single-player campaign, namely that CD Projekt Red has taken resources away from the single-player to take care of the online. The Polish developer has already stated that he will finish the single-player first and then he will deal with the multiplayer in full swing, but evidently the reassurances were not enough.
As already mentioned, other users fear that Cyberpunk 2077 will end up like GTA Online, which means that the multiplayer will be full of microtransactions, some of which are very expensive. Moreover, in case of success, there is the fear that CD Projekt Red can concentrate on the development of new contents for the online, completely abandoning the single-player and slowing down its new projects, as happened at Rockstar Games with GTA V.
As nothing of the Cyberpunk 2077 online emerged, it is difficult to express an opinion on these fears. However, it must be said that if GTA Online has done the end it did it is also because users have been happy to spend hundreds of millions of dollars on micro-transactions. Moreover, we are talking about one of the most played titles in the history of video games, despite its economic system is not exactly the most friendly.
For the rest we remind you that Cyberpunk 2077 will be released on April 16th 2020 on PC, Xbox One, PS4 and Stadia. The multiplayer component does not have a date yet.
