Pawe Sasko, one of Cyberpunk 2077’s developers, regularly broadcasts the game on Twitch. During them, he often shares information about the backstage of working on production. It was no different in the case of the last of them, in which Philipp Weber, the designer of tasks at CD Projekt RED, will make a guest appearance.

The authors raised the topic of nonlinearity in St. Cyberpunk 2077. Weber cited as an example the mission in which we accompanied Takemura on the way to Wakako. The players are faced with a choice of how they actually want to play the situation. They could just go to the car of this character and go with her on the road or go through it on their own. Moreover, it was possible to accept the garter and not use it. You might as well have contradicted your choices.

Each of the aforementioned decisions has different consequences. Individual NPCs interacted differently with each other. The way they perceived the player’s actions has also changed. As little essential as So deciding how to get to the quest destination means a lot of designer work.

Weber admitted that it was not a good solution. The time spent fine-tuning this kind of detail could be spent working on other, more important game elements.
