Back on the calendar since 2018 after a long period of interruption, the Germany Tour argues this week! For this 38th edition, the German event has not repeated the typical climber route of last year and has returned to its more traditional style, a priori intended for a very complete runner. As usual, a short prologue of 2.2 kilometers opened hostilities on Wednesday, Ethan Vernon (Soudal Quick-Step) having won. Thursday is his teammate Ilan Van Wilder who took power by winning a 1st stage dedicated to punchers, then Gregor Muhlberger (Movistar Team) offered its third success of the season during the 2nd stage. This weekend, it is the sprinters who are expected, and in particular this Saturday between Arnsberg And Essen. Mads Pedersen (Lidl-Trek), Phil Bauhaus (Bahrain Victorious) Sam Bennett (BORA-hansgrohe) and Pascal Ackerman (UAE Team Emirates) are among the favorites of the day. This 3rd stage of Germany Tour will be followed on The Live Team from 4:05 p.m.

Here is how Cyclism’Actu presented this Tour of Germany 2023 before it started…
The scenario of the German test should be very different from last year whenAdam Yates (UAE Team Emirates) triumphed at the top of the Schauinsland with big gaps. To succeed the Briton, logically absent to defend his title on this course, Mads Pedersen (Lidl-Trek) is a favorite given its sparkling form and its intrinsic qualities. The Dane will have to be wary of the 2nd in the 2022 edition Pello-Bilbao (Bahrain Victorious), but also riders like Alex Aranburu (Movistar Team), Diego Ulissi, Brandon McNulty (UAE Team Emirates), Nils Politt, Maximilian Schachmann (BORA-hangsrohe), Mauro Schmid (Soudal Quick-Step), Kevin Vermaerke (Team dsm-firmenich), Quinten Hermans (Alpecin-Deceuncink), Rasmus Tiller (Uno-X Pro Cycling Team), Georg Zimmerman (Intermarché-Circus-Wanty), Ethan Hayter (INEOS Grenadiers) or even Dylan Teuns (Israel-First Tech).
On the side of the sprinters, apart from the inevitable Mads Pedersenthe German racing cars responded with Phil Bauhaus (Bahrain Victorious) and Pascal Ackerman (UAE Team Emirates), to which we can add the names of Sam Bennett (BORA-hangsrohe), ofEthan Vernon (INEOS Grenadiers),Alexander Kristoff (Uno-X Pro CYcling Team) or Timo Kielich (Alpecin-Deceuninck).
