Disney + is now ready for launch and the new streaming platform will have a very rich catalog from day one, including Marvel, Pixar, the Star Wars franchise and Fox content. However, there will not be two Deadpools, since the adult content – or at least Rated-R, will remain on Hulu.
In an interview with Bloomberg, Bob Iger, CEO of Disney, anticipated that not all Disney-owned productions will enter the new streaming platform. Disney is a brand traditionally linked to families, and so it seems that the strategy is to maintain this peculiarity even with Disney +. The most controversial content will not be available. This is the reason why Deadpool 2, which before being undermined by the recent Joker, held the Record-R movie record from the highest-grossing in history. Curiously, the actress Zazie Beetz is present in both films, winning a singular record.
The same goes for I Griffin, Fox’s animated series certainly not suitable for children (no problem for the 30 seasons of the Simpsons).
Deadpool fans will be right. On the other hand, with Disney +, they will have a huge selection of Marvel titles, and they will find that they are consoled pending the production of Deadpool 3. The third chapter of Deadpool could be part of Phase 5 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
