Devrim Lingnau talks about his Sissi in the new Netflix series

Devrim Linnau is the new Sissi in the series of Netflix by title The Empress (The Empress). When the rebellious Elisabeth (“Sissi”) meets the Emperor of Austria Franz Joseph, the intoxicating love of the young couple completely upsets the hierarchy of power at the Viennese court. After her marriage, the young empress has to assert herself not only against her mother-in-law Sofia, a power-hungry sovereign, but also with her brother-in-law Maxi, who wants the throne (and also Sissi). While enemy troops gather on the border of the Habsburg Empire, the Viennese rebel against the emperor. Elizabeth must find out who she can trust and what is the price to pay for being a true empress and an example of hope for the people.

In a recent interview with Glamour, Devrim Linnau she said: “I’m incredibly proud to be able to play this role. We reinterpreted many things and something incredibly beautiful emerged. However, I am also aware of the responsibility of what it means to play Empress Elisabeth. I’ve grown very fond of her and I just want to do justice to this amazing woman who read a lot and published poetry, so she was very poetic.”
