Ever since the captaincy change of Chennai took place just before the start of the IPL, this issue is in constant headlines. The clouds of doubt were getting thick in the minds of the people that under what compulsion did Captain Cool leave the captaincy? Now after Jadeja’s revelations, the reality of this whole matter has come to the fore.
Jadeja was always ready to lead
Ravindra Jadeja said that there is no pressure on him as captain after Chennai Super Kings’ third straight loss this season. Ravindra Jadeja revealed that he was informed by MS Dhoni about the change in captaincy in Chennai Super Kings (CSK) a few months back. The franchise announced Dhoni’s decision to step down as the team’s captain and hand over the captaincy to Jadeja just a day before the start of the 2022 IPL season. “I have been preparing ever since (Dhoni) told me about it a few months back. Mentally I was ready to lead. There is no pressure on me. Jadeja told reporters. He further told that he is just listening to himself. They do whatever feels right to them.
Gaikwad will return
Opener Rituraj Gaikwad, who won the Orange Cap last season, has failed to give the team a good start this season. Responding to a question about Rituraj, Jadeja said that we only need to give him confidence. He is a great player and will definitely make a comeback. Captain Ravindra Jadeja also heaped praise on all-rounder Shivam Dubey, who has scored half-centuries in two consecutive matches. Jadeja said about Shivam Dubey that he is batting well and I think it is important to keep him in a good frame of mind. We will try our best to come back strong on the strength of hard work.
Jadeja’s form gave way
Ravindra Jadeja, who was captaining for the first time in IPL, could not show amazing with the bat against Punjab. He was dismissed without opening the account after playing 3 balls. He was bowled by Arshdeep Singh and showed the way out of the field. Jadeja was dismissed for the 7th time in IPL history and for the first time since 2017. Jadeja has not been able to take a single wicket in all the three matches played so far. Their disappointing performance is taking a toll on the team.
