Disney is ‘cancelling’ the Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea prequel… as filming wraps!

Nothing is going right with disney : between the repeated flops of the big movie franchises, the massive unsubscriptions of Disney+ and the drop in attendance at theme parks, the firm with the big ears continues to accumulate bad results. The situation is such that Disney would no longer hesitate to eliminate from its field of vision productions which were nevertheless about to be broadcast. If we are to believe Deadline, Disney will thus auction its new series in eight episodes The Spiderwick Chronicles based of course on the eponymous novel and produced in collaboration with Paramount. Too bad, because it is FINALLY a franchise that is neither a Star Wars nor a Marvel, but also because the cast is really raised, with in particular Christian Slater and Jack Dylan Grazer.

Disney will also directly dump the prequel to Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea, when the latter was already filmed! Again, the American firm would seek a potential buyer, but the proposals would be rare if not non-existent. If these two cancellations are surprising to say the least, it is just as surprising that other programs, which are already shaping up to be formidable critical and public fiascos, are on the other hand still highlighted, like the adaptation live action of Snow White whose first shots augur a real industrial disaster.
